Alliance’s Stellar Performance and Unlucky’s Rise Ahead of ALGS Championship
So far, it has been an incredible ALGS season for Alliance. They finished third and then first in the EMEA Pro League, then third at the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs. If they had won there, that would have given them back-to-back LAN titles, having already won the Esports World Cup.
In this article, we will find out more about Alliance’s achievements in 2024, Unlucky’s impact on Alliance’s success, and the road ahead with the ALGS Champion in Sapporo.
Overview of Alliance’s Achievements in 2024
Alliance has been having an excellent year with the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) so far. They completed third and then, first in the Split 1 Pro League – EMEA, which is an online European APEX A-tier tournament, organized by Respawn Entertainment and EA.
Alliance later came third in Split 2 ALGS playoffs. They lost the event only by one fight but the victory would have brought back-to-back wins, especially with Alliance winning the Esports World Cup.
Alliance’s latest addition, Unlucky has performed excellently this year, finishing in my Mannheim with the second maximum number of kills during the event and racking up most of it in the finals.
Unlucky’s Impact on Alliance’s Success
Ever since Unlucky joined Alliance in Split 1, he has built his strength, making progress and becoming better by elevating his game. He is currently known as one of the best controllers in the world.
Unlucky has emerged in the fierce competition with his individual performance by racking up key kills in all major tournaments that the team has participated in. He feels that he fits neatly into Alliance, providing his support to the team and bringing the right vibe required to uplift the team’s morale.
In his absence, the supportive role was missing in the team, but things have changed in terms of Meta going into Champs. There is no support role or refragging that is required by the team at present, and the overall gameplay has enhanced, making Unlucky feel that his presence in Alliance has massively improved the team dynamic as well as his confidence.
Unlucky’s Personal Reflections on His Journey
Unlucky shared his experiences since joining Alliance, “I was lacking a lot of confidence before and that weakened me a lot, especially in the previous LANs with Vexed, and weakened me a lot individually. But, behind the scenes with the team, Hakis and Effect are both really good individual players and confident players. That has helped me a lot to be confident myself.”
For a young professional player to have only negative experiences in LAN and not have witnessed a winner’s bracket shows why there is low confidence in the environment. However, things changed for Unlucky after witnessing a successful year which has led to gaining confidence. We all have heard that winning breeds confidence and only winning can help a player gain confidence in physical or any other esports event. Alliance will lift their title at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh to which Unlucky goes on to say, “Honestly, I don’t remember like the actual thoughts of the moment! I was just honestly truly happy. I was just happy everything worked out, I was always working hard towards my goal, I always wanted to win the LAN. Even after the 40th place, it was not out of sight.
ALGS Championship in Sapporo
Unlucky and Alliance joined a small club of winners after the win in APEX Legends. During the early phases of the competition, partly due to the disruption caused by COVID-19, Alliance was mainly dominated by DarkZero and TSM. It continued till the Split 1 playoffs in LA without Zer0 or ImperialHal, lifting the trophy in APEX Legends.
For Unlucky, going to Mannheim without Effect was a difficult task since he lacked confidence in himself. However, the win at the LAN before gave him confidence, pushing him to participate without Effect.
