Austria beat Azerbaijan 1-0 to qualify for Euro 2024

Austria made it to Euro 2024 by beating Azerbaijan. It was Marcel who scored the winning goal in the 48th minute through a penalty. The scoreboard more or less remained stagnant throughout the 90-minute run. As a matter of fact, the only goal scored came through a penalty shootout. Austria is now second in Group F with 16 points to their name.

Austria was on the edge, considering their previous loss of 3-2 against Belgium. That put them in a tight spot with lower chances of contesting the Euro 2024. Most of it has been a smooth ride. For instance, Austria bagged three goals against Sweden, which could only bring up a single. The reputation-saving score was made in the final moments of the game by Emil Holm.

Austria finished with 10 men on the field after Guido Burgstaller was handed the red card. The game went to extra time, and it was in those four minutes that Guido landed an outing.

The onus of qualifying for the tournament in the group is now on Sweden. Assuming it fails, this would be the first time since Euro 96 that the side was unable to make it past the qualifiers. Austria will next meet Estonia in the qualification round. Sweden will lock horns with Azerbaijan and Estonia to place bids in the advancement.

Belgium, from the same group, is nearly done with the series. It has one last chance to advance with honors by beating Azerbaijan on Matchday 10. Belgium has drawn an event, but it has yet to lose one. The draw against Sweden occurred on Matchday 8, which was subsequently suspended. Each side has a single net.

Meanwhile, some of the largest victories have come twice: Portugal beat Bosnia and Herzegovina by 5-0, and Iceland beat Liechtenstein by 4-0. Ireland and Romania have replicated a similar result against Gibraltar and Andorra, respectively.

Romelu Lukaku is leading the list of top scorers with 10 goals to his name. He is closely followed by Cristiano Ronaldo from Portugal with 9 goals. Portugal has won all the matches, with the most recent victory coming against Bosnia and Herzegovina. This followed a close score of 3-2 against Slovakia.

Portugal is the only team that is advancing to the main tournament with no loss whatsoever. It has won all its matches for a total of 24 points and a goal difference of 30, the highest in the qualifying stage, keeping the bettors on the edge at football betting sites.

France in Group B is on the verge of winning all its matches as well. The side has a record of six for six at the moment. Upcoming matches are with Gibraltar and Greece, where it must win to stand with Portugal.

Austria has beaten Azerbaijan 1-0. The team will next meet Estonia; however, it has already qualified for the tournament with 16 points to its name. The second entry from Group F is likely to be finalized this week.
