Borussia Dortmund becomes 20th FIFA Mundial de Clubes qualifier

Specifically for Dortmund, the team made its name in the Mundial de Clubes FIFA after securing a 2-0 win versus Union Berlin. The football event happened in early March 2024 at An der Alten Försterei. The dominance of Dortmund was evident right from the start, for the side maintained a heavy possession of 62% throughout the 90-minute run. This remarkable performance not only impressed fans worldwide but also drew significant attention from online FIFA betting sites, which saw a surge in activity as Dortmund’s victory seemed increasingly likely.
While they have secured a spot at the Mundial de Clubes FIFA via the ranking pathway, nothing denies that Borussia dearly deserved a chance to make a representation at the clubs’ tournament.
A match against Union Berlin put a few things in perspective. Dortmund’s aggressive attack comes into play at its own pace. Despite having the majority of possession, Terzic’s men waited till the 41st minute to find the back of the net. Another score followed in the concluding moments of the game. Karim Adeyemi bagged the opener, and Ian Maatsen sealed the victory.
Interestingly, the recent win came after a 3-2 deficit against Hoffenheim. Donyell Malen and Nico didn’t just equalize the board but also delivered an edge, only to be later disrupted by Maximilian two times. His double came in a window of 3–4 minutes.
As for the Mundial de Clubes FIFA, Leipzig has been ruled out of the qualification since they will not be able to come on par with the score level of Dortmund. Bayern Munich have booked a spot, with both spots for German teams booked by respective sides. Thirty-two football teams will hail from six different confederations to compete for the title.
Borussia are next scheduled to lock horns with Werder, Frankfurt, PSV, Bayern, and VfB Stuttgart. Dortmund versus PSV in the upcoming football event will mark the second leg of the UEFA Champions League. A single goal tied the previous leg. Donyell bagged an opener. In the 56th minute, Luuk de Jong scored through a penalty kick.
Dortmund landed two more draws against Wolfsburg and Heidenheim. Football contest with the former was a 1-1 draw, and with the latter, it was a goalless tie.
Other teams that have made it to the Mundial de Clubes FIFA in the USA in June–July 2025 are PSG, Inter Milan, Benfica, and Porto, to mention a few. The winner of the UEFA Champions League will book a spot at the tournament.
That said, FIFA has launched an online tool that enables fans to track the race to the Mundial de Clubes FIFA. This makes the tournament more interesting, with fans better connected and engaged.
