Canadian Olympic Committee Calls on IOC to Postpone Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

The Summer Olympics 2020, which was scheduled to be held from July 24th to August 9th, in Tokyo, Japan, is going through massive confusion as to whether it will actually take place or not on the scheduled date. As per the news, the Canadian Olympic Committee has already announced to pull out their athletes from the Summer Olympics and they will not send their athletes to Tokyo if it is not postponed for one year owing to the Covid 19 epidemic. Thus, becoming the first country to threaten such a move amidst the Coronavirus crisis. Other countries like Slovenia, Norway and Brazil have also forced the IOC for a possible postponement, but none had directly said they would not send their athletes if the games start on the scheduled date.

Meanwhile, the Australian Olympic Committee has told their athletes to prepare for the games that may be delayed till the next year, 2021. Thomas Bach, the president of the International Olympic Committee, proposed for the postponement of the Summer Olympics by four weeks. The statement released by the President said,
