CONMEBOL announces 2024 Copa America across 14 US cities
CONMEBOL has announced that the 2024 Copa America will happen across 14 cities in the US. Venues for the finals, semi-finals, and quarter-finals have been made public. The finals will happen in Miami Gardens, Florida. Venues for the semis are New Jersey and North Carolina. Quarter Finals will happen in Houston, Arlington, Glendale, and Las Vegas.
Other venues for the June-July tournament are Kansas City, Santa Clara, Orlando, Las Vegas, Inglewood, and Missouri. A total of 16 teams are participating in the event; six hail from CONCACAF, while ten come from CONMEBOL. CONCACAF covers North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
The event starts on June 20, 2024, and ends on July 14, 2024. The group stage will run from the beginning until July 2, 2024. Quarter-finals will happen on July 4, 2024, and July 6, 2024. Teams that advance to the next knockout stage—the semifinals—will lock horns on July 9, 2024, and July 10, 2024. The event for the third spot in the football tournament will happen on July 13, 2024, followed by finals on the last day of the event.
The draw for the next edition will happen this Saturday. Argentina was able to beat host Brazil in the previous installment. The final tally was 1-0 in their favor. Brazil finished 2nd, and Columbia finished 3rd.
Brazil versus Argentina action was led by Angel Di Maria. Brazil was able to dominate possession of the ball, but it was Argentina that emerged victorious in the end. Both teams had finished at the top of their respective tables, beating Peru and Columbia in the semis after defeating Chile and Ecuador in comparatively easy events. Football betting sites are inclined toward Argentina once again; however, it could be another team that finds a way to accumulate a larger number of nets in the 90-minute run.
Mexico and the US are entering the tournament this time as the two-seeded teams. Lionel Messi will aim to score the maximum number of goals again. His last stat was four nets, sharing the space with Luis Diaz from Colombia. Martinez missed the rank by a single goal, and so did Gianluca.
The 2024 Copa America brings more teams than it had in the last edition. A total of ten teams participated in the 2021 Copa America. Both finalists maintained a similar record through the group stage, landing one draw and three wins to their names. Teams have not been split into groups until now. Fans can still expect action to happen in the US as Brazil and Argentina come from a football match where Argentina were able to land a 1-0 win against them.
Brazil could only manage a red card, and that was about it. The 2024 Copa America begins on June 20, 2024, and concludes on July 14, 2024.
