Ee Yi-Yew Sin creates a great upset by defeating the Olympic Gold medalist
2023 All England Badminton Championships is underway, and it has started with an upset. The first round witnessed the Ee Yi and Yew Sin duo defeating the 2020 Olympic Gold medalists Lee Yang and Wang Chi Lin. The Malaysians had to endure a 57-minute-long game to beat the Taiwanese pair. The duo garnered a score of 12-21, 21,16, and 21-18 to make a successful comeback.
In a similar fashion, the Malaysian mixed duo Lai Pei Jing and Tan Kian Meng also won their first match. The duo defeated the Indonesians, Pitha Haningtyas and Rinov Rinaldy, with a score of 21-19 and 21-18. All the Badminton enthusiasts are keeping an eye on the best Indonesian sportsbooks to get all the recent and forthcoming updates of the matches.
On the other hand, the sixth-seeded Pei Jing and Kian Meng duo are now getting ready to face Yuki Kaneko and Misaki Matsutomo. The Japanese pair had already beaten the Malaysian duo, Toh Ee Wei and Chen Tang Jie, with a score of 21-19, 22-24, and 21-17.
While Pei Jing and Kian Meng seem to be the better-ranked duo, the pair has already lost to the Japanese in October 2022. Meanwhile, the women’s doubles pair, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah also witnessed a first-round exit. The duo lost to Wakana Nagahara and Mayu Matsumoto in a 55-minute-long game. The Japanese duo won the match with a score of 13-21, 21-15, and 15-21.
Although the event has just started, fans are vastly excited to witness the action unfold. However, having already created a huge upset, the Malaysian duo must be elated to enter the second phase of the tournament. While the pair is not the favorite to win the entire thing, they have made their claim much stronger than before.
