Flames and Rangers Move On After the Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 7
The New Rangers and the Calgary Flames put the lid on Stanley Cup 2022 round one with two of the most thrilling overtime wins in their respective final games. The teams move on to their second rounds with a series win. After a tight fight, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas Stars lose their round one series win by a close margin.
The excitement from the three-game-7s played on Saturday was carried on to Sunday when the New York Rangers met the Pittsburgh Penguins. The game had its fair share of heroic moments, rushing our adrenaline to the brim. However, in a close call, the Rangers stole the series from the Penguins with an overtime win.
The final attempt by Artemi Panarin to send the shot to the opposition’s net played a crucial role in sending the Rangers through to the second round. Adam Fox and Mika Zibanejad assisted in the match-winning goal. Mika also scored the third goal for his team 14:15 minutes into the 3rd period and kept their hopes up until the overtime goal.
The victory came as a shock for the Penguins as their coach Mike Sullivan had won all three Game 7s he had led before. Even with a goal advantage, the Penguins were above the Rangers by 45 to 30 shots on goal, but the overtime goal turned the number to 3 – 4. Sidney Crosby, who was benched for Game 6 at Stanley Cup 2022, recorded an assist for the team in Game 7.
The New York Rangers are now preparing to face the Caroline Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference. Game 1 of round 2 is slated for the 18th of May at 7 p.m. Eastern time. You can start hockey sports betting and place wager on highest betting odds.
The Calgary Flames emerged victorious against the Dallas Stars in the latter game to record their first series win since 2015. In their final game, Jake saved 64 of the 67 shots fired at the goal net.
Johnny Gaudreau took seven shots for the Flames and got the winning goal at 15:09 during the first overtime. He collected the rebound from Elias Lindholm as Tkachuk assisted the match-winner. When the game ended, the Flames had defeated the Stars by 3-2.
In the second round of the Western Conference, the Flames are meeting the Edmonton Oilers. After a 2-0 win against the LA Kings, the Oilers look just as confident as the Flames for their next game. Game 1 of this round will take place on the 18th of May at 9.30 Eastern time.
