Gianni Infantino Addresses Delegates Attending the Fourth Compliance Summit of FIFA
FIFA President Gianni Infantino addressed the Fourth Compliance Summit of FIFA in Costa Rica. His opening remarks laid down a clear objective of going beyond the best practice and having a different perspective on compliance.
As per the sports news, Gianni Infantino addresses delegates through a video message, emphasizing that good governance must remain at the center throughout the discussions that happen during the event. The President challenged the members by asking them how the association could expand its best practice policy to embed it as a shared mindset and culture.
All the participants of the event were present physically and virtually. The 2-day event hosted names like Rodolfo Villalobos, the President of the Costa Rican Football Association; Alasdair Bell, the Deputy Secretary General of Administration for FIFA; Emilio Garcia Silvero, the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer at FIFA, along with other key representatives of the confederations, associations, and experts of governance & compliance.
Infantino was elected the President of the association in 2016. He took this event as an opportunity to share how far FIFA has come since then.
Saying that improvements have been implemented within the organization, Infantino said there was a need to introduce some fast and radical reforms through the new Legal & Compliance Division.
Infantino compared reforms to the referee in a game, explaining that it is understood that a referee is doing a good job if they are not noticed in the game. He tagged the new FIFA as a credible and trustworthy organization.
There was a time when FIFA was looking to instill good governance principles. The association did take that step to establish that it will always be at the service of football and that the motto will never be reversed.
Gianni Infantino summarized the transformation of FIFA in three simple words: Credibility, Transparency, and Accountability.
Costa Rica is one of the participants in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The team will compete with 31 other teams for the title and the cup. Infantino wished the team the best of luck in his address to the delegates in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica will face Spain in its first match of the tournament, which is scheduled for November 23, 2022. Group E matches will have two more chances to revise their placements if things do not go in favor of Costa Rica in the first match. This might have an impact on the FIFA betting sites and affect the betting odds.
The other two matches are against Japan and Germany on November 27, 2022, and December 02, 2022, respectively.
Costa Rica is entering the tournament with two recent wins in its name. One win came against New Zealand and another against Uzbekistan. While Costa Rica won 1-0 against New Zealand, their victory against Uzbekistan came with 2-1 in their favor. One against South Korea ended with a tie as both teams scored two goals each.
