In a bid to legalize casino gambling, Ho-Chunk Inc., the Nebraska-origin Native American tribe, is making all-out efforts to push huge money into a campaign. As per the campaign finance data, Ho-Chunk Inc. has been funding the petition ballot drive. So far, approximately $1.5 million has been contributed to keeping the money in the campaign.

The campaign would make it possible for Nebraska voters to make the vital decision in next year’s election whether commercial gambling should be permitted in state’s authorized horse racing tracks in Lincoln, Omaha, Grand Island, South Sioux City, Columbus.

Ho-Chunk Inc. is the award-winning economic development corporation that is owned by Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. It was formed in the year 1994 in Winnebago, Nebraska with just one employee. Now it has operations in around 22 states with more than 1000 employees.

According to Morgan, the step is likely to produce approximately $80 million per year in tax revenue for cities, counties, and states. It will help in bringing down property taxes as well. Supporters of the move claimed that the step is expected to enhance the economy and stop Iowa based casinos from siphoning off over $320 million per year from Nebraska.
