IGT and Greentube reach a deal for patent cross-licensing
A patent cross-licensing agreement has been announced between International Game Technology (IGT) and Greentube, the NOVOMATIC Digital Gaming and Entertainment business. Included herein are highly valuable patents that pertain to remote gaming server (RGS) technologies, used to distribute games over the internet. With this, IGT and its affiliated RGS portfolios, including Greentube, will be able to offer a patent license to the global gaming industry. No financial information has been shared as of this time.
According to Renato Ascoli, CEO of IGT Global Gaming, this partnership is a continuation of IGT’s promotion of collaboration and new ideas within the connected industry. He sees this as a first step in making the RGS portfolios held by IGT and Greentube available to the gaming industry as a whole for licensing purposes.
As per the latest gaming industry news, In the words of the CEO of Greentube, Thomas Graf, this happens to be an important agreement signed, all the more because of their expansion plans in terms of their prime gaming products as well as gaming solutions. According to him, both Greentube and IGT have rock-solid foundations thanks to the quality of their RGS portfolios. As part of their future endeavors, they will continue to pursue the line of making further innovations for the gaming arena.
