As for the Test series, India is certainly the favorite to win, given the head-to-head record. The last time West Indies won a Test series against India was over 20 years ago, in 2002. Ever since then, the team has struggled to perform against the Indian squad in Test cricket.
The Indian Cricket Board is aware of this fact, and that is why the team is giving chances to youngsters in the series. Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, announced the debut of Yashasvi Jaiswal in Test cricket.
The left-handed batsman earned a name in IPL 2023, earning him a spot in the series. The youngster will be followed by Shubhman Gill at number 3, a spot the batsman is most comfortable at. Given the reputation Jaiswal has, the left-handed opener is among the first fantasy player picks on the best sites for cricket betting.
Another left-hander to look out for from the Indian camp is Ishan Kishan. The WK batsman can also make a debut in KS Bharat’s place. With Shami and Bumrah missing, Mohammad Siraj will be leading the Indian pace attack.
On the other hand, the dipping WI will rely on Jason Holder and Kraigg Brathwaite. The team has utilized pacers, such as Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach, and Shannon Gabriel well. However, given the spinner-friendly conditions at Windsor Park, the team can encounter hurdles early in the game.
The series will present ample opportunity for the Indian squad before the World Cup in October. The likes of Rohit Sharman, Virat Kohli, and Shubhman Gill would like to get back on track before the championship begins.
