Indiana’s sports betting revenue hit a record high of $55.6 M
For the month of December in the year 2023, Indiana successfully generated $55.6 million in revenue through sports wagering. Conversely, the collection of Hoosier State experienced a marginal decline. In Indiana, the amount subject to a tax reduction was $50.5 million, representing a marginal increase compared to the state’s collection in September 2022. In contrast to December 2022, there was an observed increase of 18.5% in the year 2023. Likewise, the November margin increased by 64.8% in 2023.
Consumers spent $503.1 million in December, the second-largest monthly total since the state’s legal market debuted in September 2019. The value for December grew by 16.6% when compared to December 2022, which was $431.4 million. Indiana collected 2.1% less in December, while the November amount increased to $513.3 million.
With $133.1 million in wagers, basketball was once again the favorite sport of Indiana customers. In addition to the Indiana Pacers of the WNBA, the state is also home to the Indiana Pacers of the NBA. December wagers totaled $118.1 million for American football and $133,791 for baseball, among other sports. Furthermore, a total of $45.7 million was generated via wagers on a variety of other sports. There were $205.7 million in parlay wagers.
As of December, Ameristar Casino and its affiliate DraftKings were the clear front-runners in the Indiana market. From a total of $179.8 million, the group was able to recover $19.3 million. Blue Chip Casino and FanDuel came in second with $18.1m in revenue and $171.8m in handle. Following closely behind with $3.8 million was FanDuel affiliate Belterra Casino. Totaling $4.8 million, the state received $4.8 million in December from certified sports wagering.
