IPL 2023: KKR & RCB lose two major players due to injuries
IPL 2023 is here, and the competition is already showing teams’ diversification. While a couple of the squads have registered back-to-back wins, some are yet to win one game.
Amid the action, KKR and RCB have been dealt a massive blow. Both teams have recently lost a major player from their squad. In the case of Kolkata Knight Riders, it’s their star batter Shreyas Iyer who has been ruled out of IPl 2023 altogether.
The player has been suffering from a back injury ever since December 2022. Iyer missed the Bangladesh tour because of the injury and even backed out of the final test against Australia. The injury led to Iyer’s subsequent withdrawal from the ODI series against Australia.
The injury also caused issues with the player’s calf, putting Iyer under the supervision of BCCI’s medical team. KKR had been hoping for the batsman to return for the latter half of the cricket tournament.
However, it was recently announced that the player is traveling abroad for surgery. Iyer has been one of the most popular players in the T20 tournament. The batsman boasted a prevalent pick rate on most cricket betting sites. All cricket enthusiasts and bettors are keeping a close eye on the betting sites for cricket to get all the latest updates and make the best possible predictions.
Thus, KKR and the Indian team are sure to miss Iyer’s plays. For the time being, the team has handed the captain’s role to the youngster Nitish Rana who will lead KKR against RCB on April 6.
On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore has also lost its top-order batsman, Rajat Patidar. The team recently announced that Rajat had been ruled out from IPl 2023 due to an Achilles heel injury.
No announcement regarding the player’s substitute has been made. However, the team is sure to miss Rajat’s explosive batting in the top order.
