Kane Williamson Will Bounce Back in Test Format, Says NZ Coach
IPL 2022 did not go well for Kane Williamson, as the player returned for a Test series against England. However, Gary Stead is still confident about Kane’s performance in red-ball cricket.
The NZ coach stated that Kane possesses the ability to play exceptionally in test matches. Williamson dropped out of IPL with a below-average strike rate of 93%. The player scored 216 runs before returning home for his second child’s birth.
The player still has not come to play and is expected to arrive around the second warmup match. Similarly, Trent Boult also completes the IPL duty before attending the matches. Thus, it is safe to say that New Zealand will not be at its best during the warmups.
The first official match will commence on June 2nd, and both players are expected to participate in it. Gary recently talked about Kane’s performance, and the NZ coach stated that the player was disappointed with the IPL performance.
It is rare to see someone like Kane miss out on such opportunities. However, red-ball cricket will suit Kane better, given the player’s temperament. In the betting world, the player’s performance will highly impact the betting odds at cricket betting sites.
Tim Southee recently concluded the IPL as Kolkata Knight Riders lost against Lucknow Super Giants. Similarly, Devon Conway will also return after Chennai Super Kings’ group stage elimination.
On the other hand, Boult will continue to play with Rajasthan Royals and Daryl Mitchell during the play-offs. Their return depends on RR’s elimination during this stage, and Gary will consult both players before making the final call.
Mitchell is required in the team as Henry Nicholls is still suffering from a strain. The player can elevate the middle order of the kiwis as they take on the giants from England. Both teams have performed well in red-ball cricket for the past few years, so the competition will be bold.
