Malta hosts high-profile iGaming conference

Prime Minister Robert Abela paid a visit to the highly anticipated iGaming Next conference held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Malta. The event, which boasted an impressive attendance of 4,000 delegates, 200 speakers, and participants from over 70 countries, showcased the country’s growing prominence in the iGaming industry.

During the visit, Abela commended the administration of iGaming Next, emphasizing its pivotal role as a leading platform within the sector. Accompanied by the founder of the company, Martin Petterson, the Prime Minister engaged with representatives from various industry firms, gaining valuable insights into the career opportunities fostered by such iGaming conferences.

Abela emphasized that these events exemplify the government’s economic vision and highlight Malta’s favorable reputation within the sector. Notably, the iGaming industry has witnessed a significant surge in employment over the past three years, with a remarkable 34% increase in the number of employees, rising from 11,747 in 2019 to 15,774 by the end of 2022.

Furthermore, the sector has made substantial contributions to other economic sectors, particularly professional services, resulting in a remarkable 5.8% increase in the gross domestic product generated over the past two years. Additionally, Malta has seen the establishment of an additional 50 active iGaming companies within the past three years.

The iGaming conference received significant support from Gaming Malta, further solidifying the country’s commitment to fostering a thriving iGaming ecosystem.

Prime Minister Abela’s presence at the iGaming Next conference demonstrates Malta’s dedication to being at the forefront of the global iGaming industry, reaffirming its status as a premier destination for industry professionals and fostering continued growth within the sector.
