Maryland Reveals Deadline for NFL Mobile Sports Betting
On Tuesday, John Martin, Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director, said to the online sports betting officials that he is confident enough that mobile wagering will take place in the state of Maryland by December end. As soon as John Martin announced its deadline, October 21, for the launch date of mobile application betting, the rising tempo was seen among the players.
One of the leading gambling regulators predicts that wagering for the 2018 NFL season will likely be available to gamers by the end of November. October 21 will be the latest date for applicants to submit their applications with proper information, and by October 27, Martin’s agency will announce which applicants are qualified. The selection process goes like this: Once Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC) reviews the operator’s profile, the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission will further investigate the criminal record and financial background before issuing a sports betting license to the user by MLGCC.
During the VIXIO webinar, Martin says he is looking forward to getting a license from SWARC at the beginning of November so that the business goes live by November end. If it gets delayed by a week or two, the process of issuing licenses to selected applicants will keep rolling accordingly. Maryland law permits up to 47 licenses for top sportsbooks in the state and 60 for online sports betting applications..
Maryland seems to beat Ohio for the betting launch. While Maryland expects to give the license by the end of November, the Ohio Casino Control Commission has made October 5 a deadline for mobile and retail applicants.
Businesses planning to apply for mobile licenses have already started submitting the process so that their background investigations start soon, and the Licensing officials will continue to guide them for further procedures. MLGCC is fully focused on accelerating their part of the procedure so that mobile betting can get started as soon as possible.
