MI skipper praises Arjun Tendulkar and Tilan Varma after a 14-run win over SRH
Mumbai Indians are back on track with their third consecutive victory in the TATA IPL 20023. The most recent one came against Sunrisers Hyderabad with a mere margin of 14 runs. Being dubious about the bowling line-up of MI is, honestly, somewhat natural. Jasprit Bumrah is out due to injury, and Pandya is now leading a young GT for the second time. However, the Mumbai Indians could have found a bowling line-up that is all set to make their future brighter.
Specifically, Rohit Sharma showered praise on Arjun Tendulkar, praising him for having a clear plan in mind. The MI skipper said that Arjun knows what he is doing and is confident in his skills. Sharma also said that Arjun keeps it simple by trying to swing the new ball and attempting to drop yorkers in the death overs.
True, considering Arjun bowled the last thrilling over against SRH to pick up a single wicket from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Add another wicket, not to his name, but the last over did see Abdul Samad return to the pavilion due to a run-out by Hrithik Shokeen.
What made that last over fascinating for Arjun was that there was not a single boundary from any batter. SRH were 173 for 8 after 19 overs. They only needed 20 runs to win in the last over. A difficult but almost similar situation saw KKR win the match when Rinku Singh hit five back-to-back sixes. Those unforgettable shots made him an overnight sensation. Considering MI and SRH were competing at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the chasing team walked down with a higher chance of winning the match.
SRH had won the toss and, for fans, the match. It is a pitch for batters who leverage the conditions to their fullest in the middle overs. Many online cricket betting sites, therefore, went on to showcase better odds for SRH when they elected to bowl first.
Sharma also said that it was exciting to play with Arjun Tendulkar and that life has now come full circle for him since he has seen him grow. Notably, Rohit Sharma has also shared space in the team with his father, Sachin Tendulkar.
Tilak Varma received appreciation as well for his contribution to the victory over SRH. He registered 37 runs off 17 balls with 2-4s and 4-6s before departing in Bhuvi’s over when Mayank Agarwal caught his shot in the deep point.
The bowling unit of MI has actually been amazing versus SRH where Bhuvi’s experience was more likely to do wonders for toss winners.
Piyush Chawla, Meredith, and Behrendordf picked 2 wickets each. Batters, except SKY, left an impact with Green leading the charge at 64 runs off 40 balls.
MI has now climbed to the 6th spot in TATA IPL 2023 leaderboard. SRH has slipped to the 9th position. MI will next face Punjab Kings on April 22, 2023, at 7:30 pm IST. Hosts have won three consecutive matches and would not want visitors to clinch their second win at Wankhede Stadium.
