NBC Sports & PointsBet Unite on First Dual-Market Betting Broadcast
PointsBet, NBC Sports Chicago and NBC Sports Philadelphia will present a live game sports gambling experience called BetCast during the Chicago Bulls vs Philadelphia 76ers NBA matchup on Monday, 7th March, at 7 p.m. EST, in a prominent case of just how big media companies are intensely trying to push into sports gambling.
The Bulls vs 76ers BetCast is the first dual-market sports gambling telecast from NBC Sports Regional Networks, and it will air on NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus and NBC Sports Chicago Plus.
The BetCast will provide on-screen live odds data powered by PointsBet, including spreads, over/under, and relocating money lines, as well as futures odds and player props. The real-time data will be presented on a graphical overlay to encircle the routine live-game coverage.
However, the BetCast will feature substitute announcers who can provide sports gambling commentary. To provide information and insights throughout the game, NBC Sports EDGE host Sara Perlman would be joined by NBC Sports Chicago’s Bulls analyst Kendall Gill, Head Oddsmaker at PointsBet, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s 76ers analyst Jim Lynam, and Jay Croucher.
The NBC Sports Predictor app, driven by PointsBet, will give a unique ‘Pick n’ Roll’ contest for the game with an assured $50,000 jackpot as an aspect of the Betcast.
‘Bet the EDGE GameTime,’ a special edition of the show hosted by Matt Bernier and Drew Dinsick, will also air on NBC Sports Chicago Plus from 5-6 p.m. CT before the game and NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus from 6-7 p.m. ET.
The Bulls-76ers game will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Chicago and NBC Sports Philadelphia, respectively.
PointsBet’s ‘Live Same Game Parlay’ options allow BetCast audiences to place a bet while monitoring odds, player performance, and team statistics in LIVE time.
The latest BetCast initiative builds on several previous BetCast initiatives.
On April 22, 2021, NBC Sports Chicago produced BetCast coverage of the Bulls’ game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Starting in April 2019, NBC Sports Philadelphia provided BetCast presentations of select Philadelphia 76ers games.
During the 2018-19 and 2019-20 regular-season games, NBC Sports Washington produced predictive-gaming alternate telecasts featuring the Washington Wizards.
NBC Sports and PointsBet collaborated with the PGA TOUR in February 2021 to produce NBC Sports EDGE BetCast, a live 2nd-screen encounter, during the WM Phoenix Open. During a PGA TOUR event, the first wagering companion show included ten hrs of coverage on Peacock Premium over four days of the tournament.
