The Oregon Lottery, a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association, has pointed out that its sports betting app will not be launched on the first day of NFL season. It might not hit the market on its initial targeted date and may be introduced by late September or mid-October.
The Oregon app will provide online and mobile wagering for players within Oregon except for the sovereign Native American lands.
Matt Shelby, Lottery Public Information manager, said that the working of the app is in progress and it will be launched in about two weeks. Kerry Hemphill, the lottery manager of sports betting said in the Oregon State Lottery Commission that they wanted to hit the market with accurate app functionality and for which they can be proud of.
As per the news, the Oregon app is getting delayed due to the need for designing the interface between the games and various acquisition technologies.
Kerry Hemphill also said that hitting the target date for the app is not the only thing for Oregon, but she emphasized the better functioning app safely and reliably.
Hemphill further said in the meeting that the digital testing of the app is being done on its Functionality, System security, User acceptance, System integration, Worldpay Payment processing, etc. She appreciated the tireless efforts of the lottery team which consists of 40 full-time employees and few third-party vendors.
During the phase of testing, the testers are also acting as a customer to check if anything goes wrong and trying to fix it before it goes live.
Oregon doesn’t need any legal process to launch the app and it is one of the four states under the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act for sports betting. The Oregon Lottery began to develop the app for more than a year and announced about it during the week fair in the state from August 23- September 2.
The app needs a person to be 21 years of age to log in to the Scoreboard Arena. Once the user can log in, he can watch videos about Oregon Lottery Scoreboard and play sports games for fun and prizes. Once the app goes live, it can be downloaded from the App Store or Goggle Play. The customer will be allowed to bet on professional sports and win prizes. However, the app from the Lottery will not allow betting on college sports due to the foreseeable future.
