Phil Ivey wins $1 million at the Triton Poker London competition
Phil Ivey, one of the biggest names in poker, has registered another massive win. The poker superstar recently won 1 million dollars at the Triton Poker London event.
The win took Ivey’s lifetime live tournament winning amount over a whopping 40 million dollars. The veteran secured a convincing win at the 60k dollars buy-in no-limit hold ’em turbo event.
This was Ivey’s fourth Triton win to secure another 1.07 million dollars. The player outperformed 61 participants, making up for a lackluster performance at the WSOP. The Hall of Famer had recently secured the second position at the 20k-dollar Mystery Bounty event a week ago.
Among the 61 participants, big names like Aleksejs Ponakovs, Nick Petrangelo, and Sam Greenwood were also present. Ivey managed to outlast the competition to win his 11th seven-figure live tournament win.
According to the latest poker news, the final table started on a tense note, but it all came down to three Americans battling it out. It was between Cary Katz, Phil Ivey, and Nick Petrangelo to decide the event winner. Nick had the opportunity to outchip Phil with a bigger ace at one point.
However, the player lost the chance and had to settle for 468,900 dollars in third place. Cary and Phil continued the heads-up play, with the latter holding a 3-1 advantage in chips.
While it looked like Cary was about to turn the tables, a set of Q and 7 on the flop helped Phil make it all the way through. Cary settled in for the second spot with prize money of 715,500 dollars.
With the win, the 10-time WSOP bracelet winner has broken the streak of no tournament win since September 2022. Now, the player is ranked 11th in the list of all-time Hendon Mob cashes. As the veteran gets ready to appear in more events, the chances of him overtaking several top winners increase as well.
