Play’n Go wins PGCB approval for PA Market, partners with BetRivers
Effective April 5, 2024, PGCB has granted a license to Play’n Go. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board also approved its partnership with BetRivers on the same day. It took a week for the development to become official, but Play’n Go is now proceeding with its partnership by entering a new region as a game supplier.
Notably, PA Market is the 5th region, while Delaware is the 6th region for Play’n Go. Receiving the license enables Play’n Go to bring the majority of its titles to the platform of BetRivers. This includes the likes of Piggy Blitz, Riddle Reels, and Boat Bonanza, among others. Categories that are expected to be rolled out are slots, craps, and roulette, to mention a few.
The development has been confirmed by the Director of Communication at PGCB. Doug Harbach issued a statement to the media, stating that Play’n Go has been granted the license and that its partnership was approved on the same day.
Play’n Go released a statement for the media as well. Magnus Natt och Dag, the Commercial Director of North America for Play’n Go, said in the media release that they are excited to extend the offering to Pennsylvania, adding that they are proud to be extending their presence with BetRivers, a respected and innovative platform.
Richard Schwartz, the Chief Executive Officer of Rush Street Interactive, expressed his happiness with the partnership. Richard acknowledged that Play’n Go has an impressive portfolio of games, adding that it will enable them to offer innovative and top-quality games to their players in Pennsylvania.
BetRivers is currently playing catch-up in the market, though. DraftKings Casino PA leads the online casino market. It has been reported that DraftKings alone generated revenue worth $60 million in February this year. BetRivers, one of the best online casinos, has carved its way into a decent market share. A partnership with Play’n Go is expected to strengthen its position in the market and increase its market share.
That said, Pennsylvania is currently leading the iGaming market across the US. It has surpassed the performance of Michigan and New Jersey by generating $2.1 billion in revenue in the previous year. Pennsylvania also led the market in January this year, that is, 2024, by generating revenue of $189.3 million. In the same month, New Jersey and Michigan reportedly bagged revenue worth $183.3 million and $181.9 million, respectively.
The numbers of Keystone State have increased in the last four months of 2024, topping out in December with $204.2 million. There was a slight decline in October 2024, but the market picked up the pace again.
Moving forward, Pennsylvania is also looking to cement its position in the world of online casinos. The entry of Play’n Go and its partnership with BetRivers are pivotal for the region and BetRivers. Needless to say, residents of Pennsylvania now have more titles on the board to engage with.
