PV Sindhu Leads Indian Contingent at Swiss Open 2025

PV Sindhu, the 29-year-old, two-time Olympic medallist will participate in the Swiss Open 2025 Badminton tournament from Tuesday at Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 300 tournament will be held where world number 16 Sindhu will face the world’s number 28 Malvika Bansod in an interesting clash, according to Olympics.com.

There will be other Indian women’s singles players who will compete, including Anupama Upadhyay, Rakshitha Ramraj, and Aakarshi Kashyap, who will compete in the tournament. As for the men’s singles players, which is another key all-Indian clash, all set for the first round, the top-ranked shuttler of India and world’s number 15, Lakshya Sen will play against the champion of the 2016 Space Open HS Prannoy.

Bettors’ Insights and Badminton Odds

PV Sindhu’s past performances have received both appreciation and criticism among different groups of people.

She won a silver and a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, respectively, which made her one of the most successful athletes in badminton in India. She also won multiple medals at the BWF World Championship, especially the 2019 gold medal which solidified her position as a top player in women’s badminton.

Her performance, however, has remained inconsistent in the tournaments outside the World Championships and Olympics, which led to many debates about whether the player lives up to her status.

While many punters admire her for her past performances, others criticize her performance in terms of the status she has earned. This has led to shifting betting odds on the top online badminton sportsbooks

Although she has been a true sportsman, creating history after her wins, her present form as well as the analysis of her opponents at the next clash will ultimately decide whether she is a favorite or an underdog.

Expectations from Indian Players

The star shuttler, PV Sindhu, continues her quest to regain top form the moment the Swiss Open 2025, with $250,000 gets underway on Tuesday, to feature draws crowded with Indians. The 2022 Champion Sindhu suffered an opening-round exit last week from the All England Championship after she returned to the game following an injury in her hamstring.

However, Malvika logged in noteworthy win over Yeo Jia Min at the same event.

Lakshya, another young Indian shuttler finished fourth at the Paris Olympics and defeated Jonatan Christie of Indonesia last week, whereas Prannoy returned from a layoff because of chikungunya.

Among other young Indian shuttlers, Anupama Upadhyaya and Aakarshi Kashyap are also in to achieve a decent run in women’s singles. Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj will also play against Line Christophersen in the opening match.
