RCB Vs. MI in TATA WPL 2023: Time to predict winners
Things have changed for MI and RCB in the TATA Women’s Premier League 2023. Both teams will meet again on March 21, 2023, at 03:00 pm IST but with a difference that RCB now has two consecutive wins to its name while MI has lost its previous two fixtures against DC and UPW.
It is hard to guess which side will emerge victorious, but fans can be assured that they will witness a hard-core competition between the sides that are led by the best batters in the world – Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur.
The last MI and RCB met was a brighter picture of MI since the side had clinched the victory with 9 wickets in hand. They were able to chase the target of 156 conveniently in 14.2 overs.
RCB had to bat first and could only put up a total of 155 in 18.4 overs. All the wickets were down, with Hayley Matthews picking up the most number of wickets for MI – three, including the skipper, Richa Ghosh, and Heather Knight.
It is hard to imagine that Ellyse Perry went back to the pavilion after getting out for falling short of reaching the crease. The kind of an athlete that she is, it can only be assumed that MI turned out to be somewhat fortunate with Brunt’s throw.
Mandhana will have to regain her momentum as the batter. She can alternatively attempt to take forward the previous strike wherein a total of 37 came from her bat at the rate of 119.35. Less, sure, but still better than how she has performed in previous matches. The bowling unit needs to buckle up and pick some pickets to restrict MI for a shorted target.
MI is likely to be in trouble if they bat first. One, RCB is still one of the best teams when it comes to chasing. Two, RCB spinners will take advantage of the flat surface to turn the game around.
Kaur has been legendary, and her 4th position on the list of contenders for the orange cap speaks for itself. Hayley Matthews had troubled RCB in the previous fixture, scoring 77 off 38 balls and remaining unbeaten throughout the end. Some of the predictions points towards the fact that Matthews staying on the pitch for a longer time will take the match away from RCB. Another perception is that the openers of RCB have nearly found their game in the recent matches, and they could pose a larger threat. Preeti Bose was the sole wicket-taker, with others giving away a lot of runs.
However, that was Brabourne Stadium, and this time, it is going to be Dr. DY Patil Stadium. The body language of RCB openers is stronger than before. Perry is confident with her all-rounder skills, and MI comes with the baggage of two consecutive losses, including the one against DC last night.
