Reviewing power rankings ahead of Charles Schwab Challenge
Michael Block is making an appearance at the age of 46. This comes to light at a time when there is a sponsorship exemption in place for him. The Colonial Country in Fort Worth will host a total of 120 competitors in Texas. The PGA Tour is all geared up to welcome Block and other contenders for the title.
Scottie Scheffler currently tops the chart from the USA. His wins are not weekly, but his skills and potential to bounce back from last year’s final-round retreat and defeat in the playoff keep him at the top of the edge. Another reason for keeping him at the top is his return to the top spot in OWGR.
Scottie’s recent action saw him close T2 at Oak Hill for a field-tying-low 65.
Another contender from the US is on the list, with Tony Finau following Scottie in second place. His record speaks volumes at Colonial. Statistically speaking, the numbers are 7-7 for 2019’s solo and 2022’s T4. Tony has a pretty busy schedule, but that does not stop him from making his presence felt at key tournaments.
Jordan Spieth had to settle at Oak Hill for the 11-way T29; however, he has now clarified that no more health issues keep him from entering any golf event. When reports circulated about Jordan suffering from a left wrist injury, speculation made its way. Because Jordan is on his way, colonial will not have to deal with those reports.
He is also known to be the all-time earnings leader in the golf tournament.
Spicing things up at most of the golf betting sites is Norway-based Viktor Hovland. He comes with the baggage of a 2-2 record at Colonial, having scored 25s in both his trips to the venue. The last 10 months have seen him crash 18 times in a row.
Sungjae Im went missing at Oak Hill after he fell short by eight shots. Nonetheless, that served as a well-deserved break for the South Korean contender. Im makes his fifth back-to-back appearance at Colonial with two top 15s to his name already.
Colonial will peak at 7,209 yards on this year’s PGA Tour. It has been 70-par to pose a hybrid test to all the contenders.
Per the reports, Colonial is expected to undergo a restoration process after the tournament concludes. Gil Hanse and his team are tasked with preparing the course for the next edition of the tournament.
As for the previous year’s record, the average stood at 70.721 after the final round average came to 72.275 amid winds running at 30 mph. Sam Burns ended up recording the best figure of the tournament, 65. The final tally for him was 9-under 271.
That was effective to the extent that he managed to upend Scottie in the playoff.
The tee time for the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial is yet to be announced; however, the tour will run through May 25, 2023, and May 28, 2023.
