FIFA World Cup 2022: Saudi Arabia celebrates the big win over Argentina & declares public holiday
Those who rarely watch football are on the same footing as the football world order. Argentina’s loss to Saudi Arabia comes as a surprise to all in FIFA World Cup 2022. Without a doubt, Saudi Arabia performed well on the football field. The termination of the team’s 36-game winning streak has caused jaws to drop.
Argentina fans expected the game to be won comfortably, with at least five goals. In the second half, Saudi Arabia rallied back to first equalize the score and then take the lead. After 10 minutes, Messi attempted a shot, and the momentum lasted until halftime.
The referees ruled that the subsequent three goals were invalid due to offside.
As per the sports news, King Salman has announced a public holiday in the region, and he and his brother, the Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz, were spotted thanking God in the prayer room. The Saudi flag flew high not only in the stadium, but also around the kingdom, where everyone could be seen smiling.
Messi is currently on his sixth and last attempt to win the ultimate championship for winners. Argentina’s loss to Cameroon in the opening match of the 1990 FIFA World Cup is a surprise, however it should be recalled that a similar outcome occurred in the same tournament. What followed was Argentina’s advancement to the tournament’s championship match.
It remains to be seen whether the same pattern will emerge at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Lautaro and Messi will continue to attack the opposition against Poland and Mexico, who drew their first matches for a single point each. Argentina’s current objective is to win all of its forthcoming games.
In the meantime, celebrations continue with youngsters dancing and women standing with their car sunroofs open. Arab supporters are also seen cheering the outcome of Tunisia vs. Denmark, despite the match ending in a tie.
While speaking to the media, supporters of the Saudi Arabia football team showed their excitement. A supporter stated that Argentina relied on a single player, but Saudi Arabia played as a team.
Messi, on the other hand, has demonstrated his faith in the group by describing them as powerful, a fact that cannot be overlooked. Brazil was the latest team to defeat Argentina in July 2019. Since then, it has not only avenged that setback in the CONMEBOL Copa America, but has also entered the event as the favorite after defeating Italy in the CONMEBOL UEFA Cup. In the second half, the Saudis approached the field with a plan to attack and retain possession. They executed the play without allowing Argentina to equalize.
Interestingly, Saudi Arabia has become the first non-European team to beat Argentina since 1990. It is the same tournament in which Cameroon delivered an upset to Argentina, but Argentina still went on to play in the finals.
