Stars beat Kraken in Overtime after Duchene scores 3 points
On Monday, Thomas Harley scored a goal only 2 minutes and 16 seconds into overtime to give the Dallas Stars a win. The victory came by just one point as they edged out competitors from Seattle Kraken with goals in each session to overcome their weak defensive effort 4-3 when the star of American Airlines Center sent visiting spectators.
Harley scored after he received a pass across the ice from Matt Duchene and put the ball into the net from close range. This came soon after Seattle’s Eeli Tolvanen knotted the game at 3-3 with only 22 seconds remaining in the third period.
The plan for overtime is being discussed by Dallas forward Joe Pavelski. He said that while playing overtime, their only concern is maintaining possession and keeping their cool. All players are required to closely track one another during the overtime period.
Overtime is a period when players must be alert for opportunities. In the midst of what seems like chaos, a scoring opportunity might arise, like when one team wins a struggle for the puck in the corner behind the net. As soon as one player is on the inside, the game changes to a two-on-one situation and the winner is the team that scores first, Pavelski added.
The Stars (18-8-4) have won five of their last six games (4-1-1) on goals from Duchene and assists from Jason Robertson and Pavelski. There were 35 saves by Scott Wedgewood.
According to the sports news, Dallas coach Peter DeBoer was pleased with his team’s performance after the game. However, they were exhausted by the third period after playing three games in four nights. But they accomplished a lot of positive things during the game, and Scott Wedgewood, their goaltender, was excellent once again. There might not have been a need for extra, according to DeBoer, if they had scored on the power play (0-4 at even strength). He went on to say that they had opportunities to seal the deal in the third period, but that Seattle’s penalty kill was effective.
The Kraken’s Tomas Tatar and Matty Beniers each had a goal and an assist. However, the Kraken (winning 10 games, losing 14 games, and drawing 9) lost their second straight game after winning two in a row. Joey Daccord, the Kraken’s goalie, stopped 24 shots in the game.
According to Tomas Tatar, Kraken’s goal for the game was to earn a point. The squad put up a solid effort, even if they let goals in due to a few defensive mistakes. In addition to this point, which Tatar thinks they deserved, he also mentioned that the visitors scored twice in overtime. This demonstrated how razor-thin the margin of victory is in the sport of hockey. His main point was that they should take what they learned from this game and apply it to their performance in the upcoming game.
