The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has stepped up its efforts to combat unlawful internet gaming. In order to do this, it intends to prohibit all internet sites that advertise and generate traffic to online betting operations, as well as any affiliate advertising websites and any sites that generally market themselves as impartial evaluations of gambling opportunities.

For the very first time, the ACMA has requested assistance from Australian internet service providers (ISPs) in their attempts to reduce illicit online betting operations.

The ACMA prioritizes prohibiting such websites that give direct access to illegal gamingAustralia OK Casinos, Australian Casino Hex, Pokies, Australian Casino Club, Aussie Online Pokies, Australian Betting, and True-Blue Casinos are among the websites that have been asked to be blocked.

Fiona Cameron, an ACMA Authority Member, feels that this move will be the next move in interrupting big unlawful businesses and preventing risk to Australian consumers.

Fiona Cameron said that the marketing websites in question might direct users to illicit gaming services that lack the safeguards provided by licensed and regulated providers. She added that ACMA  frequently receives customer complaints that their gains are not fulfilled and that rewards and stress methods are used to attract gambling addicts.

In 2017, the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001 increased the ACMA’s authority.

It has now taken substantial measures to combat illicit behavior. These outcomes include the banning of 279 illicit betting sites and the discontinuation of 144 services in Australia. Along with this, the regulator has contributed to a 95% drop in access to the top ten betting platforms.
