The National Government of Japan is Establishing a Casino Management Commission
According to the recent news, Japan will have a big day on January 7, 2020. On this day, the national government of Japan will establish the Casino Management Commission.
This decision to establish the commission has been delayed. It was initially decided on July 1, 2019. This delay is due to many reasons like increased gambling problems. On the other hand, the Development Act of IR (Integrated Resort) will establish on January 26, 2020.
There will be five members in this commission for five years. It is an independent agency working under the cabinet office of Japan. According to the authorities, it is essential to take confirmation from the parliament before any appointment.
The main aim of establishing the Casino Management Commission is to handle and manage security matters, probity, and background verification. The committee will keep an eye on casino licensing and other gambling operations. It will take care of administrative procedures like revoking licenses at the time of law violation, measures to control gambling addiction, etc.
The national government has not yet announced the complete version of the IRs policy. There is a maximum of three resorts allowed in the first phase of market liberalization. The full policy of IR will determine the criteria of central authorities and deciding the place for a casino. Many governments, as well as cities in Japan, are interested in hosting and IR. Many casinos across the world are showing interest in getting the casino license by bidding on it. The government will announce the IR policy next year.
According to an announcement on July 2019, the Japan Tourism Agency will take care of many matters like the nascent casino industry of the country. It involves choosing the participant sites to host the casino resorts.
