Tottenham’s Woes Deepen: Ange Postecoglou Faces Pressure as Chairman Daniel Levy Becomes the Main Target After Leicester Defeat

Tottenham fell to the fifth consecutive loss in the Premier League as they hit rock bottom, beaten up by Leicester 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This has increased the tension surrounding Manager Ange Postecoglou who is now under the gun along with chairman Daniel Levy, who is the main target for fan frustration during the game.

Fan Discontent Mounts: Levy Under Fire as Spurs Continue to Struggle

There were early chants of “we want Levy out” heard from the Home fans who were expressing their dissatisfaction during the game, which only intensified later after the defeat.

Ange Postecoglou, the head coach of the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur admitted that is facing tough moments during his second season in charge of Tottenham.

Daniel Levy has transformed the team during his tenure, took Spurs into the magnificent newly built stadium, and overhauled the infrastructure.

There was a growing fan frustration with the performance of the team under Levy’s leadership where supporters felt that they were witnessing the same issues and a culture of underachievement.

The dissatisfaction is not novel whereas the recent events have only sharpened those emotions among fans. The Spurs have been struggling in the Premier League with their poor results (1 win from 12 Premier League matches).

Out of 23 games, they have been defeated 13 times in total. Only Southampton, Wolves, and Leicester have been defeated this frequently, but now the players seem to be on those lines, ranking 15th at present.

Injuries and Squad Imbalance: Are Spurs Doomed for Relegation?

What has put Levy’s project under scrutiny also comes from the reports that the Spurs cannot compete on wages with Arsenal for the January signings. This comes amidst the repeated calls that Postecoglou made for help during the 10-player injury crisis that has derailed the entire season.

Postecoglou claimed that the injury-hit squad with 10 players deprived at present is behind him. However, the former Celtic boss conceded, “Who knows. I reckon there is probably a fair chunk that will say ‘no’,”.

Many players are beset by critical injuries including James Maddison, the latest one to be sidelined, who will be joining the list of absentees, stretching it to double figures.

Almost 4 weeks into the transfer window in January, the only senior signing in the team is the 21-YO goalkeeper, Antonin Kinsky.

In a press conference, Postecoglou said that the players require help and the club is working hard to remove the current issues. However, it is slowly becoming a familiar refrain.

Fans are having the same emotions. However, even without the players’ injuries, the team remains imbalanced.

Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have made it quite promising for their fans but Wilson Odobert, along with the other two, was signed, keeping the future in mind.
