UFC Abu Dhabi: Nick Diaz returns with Sandhagen vs. Nurmagomedov
The UFC community rejoiced recently after Nick Diaz announced his return to the company.
Diaz, one of the most well-known MMA personalities, has amassed a massive following. His return to the UFC makes Abu Dhabi Fight Night even more electric.
Diaz, with a record of 26-10, is set to fight against Vicente Luque, who has a record of 22-10-1. The two will participate in a 5-round welterweight bout on August 3 in Abu Dhabi. Dana White, the CEO of the UFC, set up and announced the fight.
The event was already being covered by some of the Best MMA Betting Sites. However, Diaz’s sudden return has raised the stakes for the event much higher. The news surprised everyone, as Nick Diaz has not been active since September 2021.
The now-40-year-old fighter lost against Robbie Lawler. After the bout, Diaz confessed that the fighter was not excited about the competition anymore. Before the fight, Diaz had not participated in fighting for six years.
Now, the legend will battle against the 32-year-old Luque, who looks to be in consistent form. However, it is worth noting that Luque has lost three of the previous four bouts.
In similar fashion, the Abu Dhabi Fight Night is making a buzz with its bantamweight matchup. The bout will see Cory Sandhagen (17-4 record) match against Umar Nurmagomedov (17-nil record). The undefeated Umar is a cousin of the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov, making the main event exciting.
Besides these two much-anticipated fights, Abu Dhabi Fight Night will witness Deiveson fight Vera in another bantamweight competition. Loopy Godinez vs. Mackenzie Dern will be a flyweight bout, while Michael Chiesa will battle Tony Ferguson in a welterweight match.
The event will take place at Etihad Arena, the venue that served as Fight Island during the pandemic.
