Day 2 of Test 1 between India and the West Indies is wrapped up. As expected, the visitors have dominated the cricket match, accruing a lead of 162 runs already.
After bowling out WI for a measly total of 150 runs, India opened its batting tactfully. The team opened the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma and the debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal. The left-hand-right-hand duo started strong, helping India stand at 312 for 2 after Day 2.
Both openers managed to score centuries, with the Indian captain getting out for 103 off 221. Gill’s poor performance in Test cricket continued as the youngster got out for 6 off 11. Jaiswal stood strong at the pitch, assisted by Virat Kohli.
The duo are unbeaten for 143 and 36, respectively, as India sets to start Day 3 on a positive note. Despite the Windsor Park conditions assisting spinners, West Indies failed to make any impressive steps in its bowling attack.
On the other hand, the Indian opening duo exceptionally defended every ball that gripped the surface. Given the current quality of the WI bowling attack, the duo was able to capitalize on loose deliveries throughout the inning.
It allowed Rohit Sharma to secure his 10th Test century. Contrarily, Jaiswal became the third Indian to score a Test century on debut. The 21-year-old has been an eye-catcher ever since IPL 2023.
Seeing how well the left-hander has been performing, Jaiswal has been a popular pick among fantasy players for a while. This trend was followed in IND vs. WI Test series as well, where fantasy players on the cricket betting sites were quick to add Jaiswal to their teams.
As for the cricket match, India looks in an absolutely dominating position. With Jaiswal and Kohli to start on Day 3, the team can expect some quick runs. The duo is to be followed by Rahane, Kishan, and Jadeja, allowing the batting to go all-out.
